Physical Education Course Guidelines and Expectations
1. Students are expected to dress out each class period, as well as actively participate in all activities. If a student does not change for class they will be marked with a "no dress". The first time, the student will lose their participation points, however any future days marked as a "no dress" will result in the lowering of their grade one letter grade. For example if the student was currently at a B average, their grade would be lowered to a C. At the teachers discretion, students may be assigned an “in school” detention with their second “no dress”.
2. Proper dress includes appropriate shorts or sweatpants, a T-shirt(that covers your mid-section), socks and tennis shoes. All shoes must have a non-marking sole. If not dressed in this manner, the student will lose points off his/her participation grade.
3. Students are to be in the gymnasium or weight room five minutes after the tardy bell rings. Students who report after this time will be marked “tardy”, and lose half of their participation points for the day.
1st tardy – lose half of their participation points
2nd tardy – lose half of their participation points
3rd tardy - lose half of their participation points
4th tardy - lose half of their participation points and call parent
5th tardy – meet with principal
4. Full participation is expected unless excused by a physician. If you are in school then you are to participate in class. Also, if the student sustains an injury which will prevent he/she from participating in class, a note from a physician should be given to the instructor, to excuse the student from participating that day and to offer any special instructions pertaining to the injury. If a student is excused from participating he/she will be responsible for writing a report or helping in daily activities, specified by the instructor, to receive credit for that class
5. Showers are considered optional (but encouraged) for this course. The student is expected to show discretion in this area. Ample time will provided for showers at the conclusion of each hour.
6. Students are responsible to keep the assigned locks on their lockers at all times. Students are responsible to replace lost locks at a cost of $10 dollars. The instructor is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
7. Students are to remain in the gym area and or locker room for the entire class period unless the instructor gives permission to go elsewhere, i.e.. locker, office etc.
